Leaving Lofoten

Actually when writing this -Jan. 17 2019 -I'm on quite another trip than up north in Norway. I'm in a small hotel apartment in Puerto Rico, Gran Canaria. But we can't spend all the time on the beach, can we.. -so I still work on the many shots I took on my sept. 2018 road trip -and upload them from here as they come along....

Now the photos have reached the time when I left Reine in Lofoten (I've already added some shots from that beautiful place) -and head back the way I came actually -through the Lofoten islands -before heading back south -home..

I made a quick stop in Kabelvåg. A lovely small place in Lofoten -and took some nice photos in great light given by some dark clouds and deep blue sky in between them..

The next stop where I spendt another night is Narvik... I will write some more when photos from there is added.

These are the albums now where most of the shots from my Sept 2018 trip can be seen:

Approaching Henningsvær

LofotenOn my roadtrip up north in Norway sept. 2018 -my albums are about to reach Henningsvær in Lofoten. I didn’t sped the night there but passed the road sign.. and stepped on the brakes -backed up and turned to follow the road there… a decision I did not regret!!

Henningsvær is a small place -actually a group of small islands. But when it comes to really experience the northern wild climate and hard work in the old fishing days -it’s a big place anyway! The light was difficult at the time -heavy clouds and strong winds too -with sun burst in between. But did I get the right atmosphere? -Yes I think so 🙂

These are the albums now where any shot from my Sept trip can be seen:

Svolvær

On my trip to Northern Norway Sept. 2018 I have finally arrived Lofoten. And Svolvær is my first stop.

I spent the night in one of the old fisherman's cabins there -all those cabins are now upgraded of course for tourists and travellers! 🙂 -and equipped with every modern need. But the old walls and atmosphere are well kept.. It was a real pleasant stay!

So was Svolvær! Fantastic nature -sky high mountain tops that vanished in the clouds.. and lucky me had lot of clouds that day! I love grey weather and clouds when shooting -specially in a place like this when we should think back to the all the hard work and lost lives back in time -where 'everyone' went up here for fishing.. in boats not equipped as today of course -nor the men was!...

Northern Norway 2018

First shots from Northen Norway 2018

In september 2018 I grabbed an opportunity to a great road drive from Alta -Finnmark county -far north in Norway -and south to my home.. I've just started the album where I will post photos from this trip -and these first few shots show the area just south of Alta. Landscapes and old mountain huts used by the Sami people up there..

As usual I have not noted exact location for each and every shot, but I will do my best to write more info as the album is updated:

Landscapes Northern Norway 2018

In september this year -2018 -I was so lucky to be invited inside the area -and even inside a couple of buildings -at the beautiful power station Rånåsfoss in Akershus Norway. I have some great friends to thank for this as they had connections there.

The photos from this visit can be view in the album:

Rånåsfoss

The album have just started up now and new photos will be added when they are ready!…

Skams klove

The first island you arrive to when driving to Hvaler is Kjøkøy.

I decided to stop there one day this summer of 2018 to visit 'Skams klove' A fascinating gorge -or a little very narrow 'valley' there -called Skams klove. It's actually a little tourist attraction. There are also rests after a fortress from the WW2 just above it, but not worth photographing as there's only stones left..
The gorge is 200 meter long and about 12 m deep -and quite exciting to walk.

A hasty trip to Elverum, Hedmark

March 20, 2018 I had to drive 3 hours up north here in Norway to the Elverum area in Hedmark. In order to collect a new fridge needed in my camper at Hvaler. So.. not a photo-trip actually but of course I don't go that far without my camera! So even if it was a rather hasty trip I was lucky. Discovered an old industry plant in Jømne; Jømna Brug. I also passed frozen power plant -and when taking a wrong but most lucky turn ) I even passed our grand old distillery Løiten Brænderi!

As usual most of the shots are also to be found in my other albums -but collected here.

Isegran February 2018

Isegran is a small ‘corner’ by the Glomma river -in the middle of Fredrikstad city, Norway. A visit there almost never fails -so of course I take a little walk there from time to time. And this day; feb 22 2018 I was real lucky! Discovered a small area I had not seen earlier.. a big boathouse with an old boat wreck -and a small hut outside. Very nice for me and my camera!..)..
Most of the photos here can also be found in other albums.

A small walk in the old FMV area Fredrikstad Feb 10 2018

Some impulsive visits are often the best ones.. like this day when I decided to visit an old, well known area in one of my home towns: Fredrikstad. I discover that it’s both good and important to revisit places you have enjoyed earlier again -as we often see things from another perspective or with ‘new’ experienced eyes 🙂 -Places can change too -more or less. Beside -this old shipyard is soon to be all gone I’ve heard 🙁 -so I will memorize it like this the best I can…. There are also quite a lot of shots from around there in my other albums –Fredrikstad or Industry Fredrikstad # 1 or # 2!
